Arizona Auto Insurance Rates

If you are looking into purchasing an auto insurance policy in Arizona here are some things that may affect the cost of your premiums.  If possible, try to purchase a vehicle with as many safety features as possible.  The more safety features on your vehicle the lower the premiums, some safety devices can be added if you like.  For instance, you can add an auto alarm.  Ask your agent about purchasing a third party only plan.  In a majority of places, this will satisfy the minimum requirements of coverage.  With this type of policy in the event of accident only the other persons’ damages will be covered, all of your personal damages will be covered by you.  If you have an older vehicle this may be the type of policy that suits you the best.

Try to reduce the annual mileage you drive your car.  The insurance company assumes that the more miles you drive the higher your risk of being in an accident.  Take a defensive driving course if one is available in your area, this will drop your premiums considerably.  In today’s world, insurance companies will take your credit rating into consideration when quoting a rate to you.  If you want to lower your car insurance rate, do whatever you can to raise your credit rating.  All types of companies look at your credit rating now, even prospective employers, they assume that if you have a high credit rating then you pay your bills on time, therefore you are a reliable person.

Take on the highest deductible that you honestly believe you can afford, the higher the deductible you are willing to pay the lower your premium will be.  Be aware though that in case of an accident the law requires that the deductible be paid first, that is why you have to be sure that the deductible is an amount you can afford.  Be sure and compare quotes from as many of the various insurance companies as possible.  There are many insurance companies in Arizona and they differ in the discounts that they give and how they figure those discounts.  For instance, one company may only allow one accident or moving violation before they raise your rates others may allow you two or more before they take action.  You may want to use the internet as a research resource.  There are websites that will allow you to fill out an insurance form and then compare the quotes of many companies all at one time.

What California Auto Insurance Requirements Mean to You

All states carry specific requirements in what they require out of drivers to carry in forms of auto insurance.  California auto insurance requirements, mandated by California state law, require all owners of automobiles to carry insurance covering bodily injury and property damage.  Bodily injury coverage must be a minimum of $15,000 per person injured and $30,000 for all people injured per incident.  Property damage under California state law for auto insurance must be a minimum of $5000 per incident covering damage to property or person.  Both these are state mandated and failure to show proof of coverage will result in ticketing and fines.

In January 2006, California State law ruled that all insurance companies are required to report to the Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) all insurance status information regarding use of any privately owned or used vehicle.  California law enforcement and courts have full access to all DMV records as of July 2006 that enables them to look up in an instant if any vehicle registered in the state of California is properly insured.  If an owner cancels their liability insurance or if insurance provider has not disclosed to the DMV proof of coverage on your vehicle, or if a auto owner falsely reports California insurance coverage, the auto owners registration is subject to suspension as of October 2006.

Some may feel this is taking insurance to the extreme but if looking at the logistics of the laws ensures other drivers on the roadways of California that fellow drivers are insured with at least California State law required minimal insurance limits and leaves the hassles out of your hand of providing insurance required proof at times of registration renewal.  State law still requires motorist to carry in their vehicle proof of coverage even though proof of coverage is available at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

California State Law does not require motorist to carry Personal Injury Protection (PIP), No-Fault, Uninsured Motorist, Under insured Motorist, Collision, or Comprehensive coverage, however, all can be optional purchases by a cautious driver.  California goes by a Tort system that means any motorist found at fault for an accident and their insurance company is held liable for all damages incurred.  For this reason many motorist elect to add optional insurance coverage in the case of such incidents.

California auto insurance requirements do not need to scare you from getting great deals on coverage. QuoteScout.co Full post…
