CT scans save pet lives– if you can afford it

Last month Torrey, my Teacup Chihuahua, and I attend the Western Veterinary Conference (WVC) in Las Vegas, a popular event for veterinarians’ continuing education. Vets keep up-to-date and meet their states’ continuing education requirements by attending such conferences.

Pets Best Insurance exhibits at WVC each year to meet with veterinarians and their staff to help educate them about our pet health insurance and to answer any questions they have about how it works. We also like to get a perspective on how their clients, (our policyholders) view our coverage and service, and to inform them about any new plans, programs or benefits.

A Brief Overview of Building Insurance for Landlords

Insurance is one of those things that seems like such a waste to have, but when it is needed, everyone is happy to be insured.

Insurance is the promise of reimbursement in the event of loss due to an unforeseen circumstance. Insurance is a form of risk management where the risk is transferred from the owner to the insurance company in exchange for the prepayment for a policy of protection paid by the individual consumer or business. The insurance rate is the factor used to determine the amount of the premium, or prepayment value, based on the level of coverage desired.

A building insurance for landlords is a necessary item that provides protection of property in the event of damage, loss or liability purposes.

Motor insurers must tackle affordability for young drivers, warns Defaqto

Financial research company Defaqto is urging car insurance providers to introduce and encourage measures that will bring down young driver car insurance premiums.

The independent researcher has published a white paper explaining how motor insurers can control risk in the young driver market, and exploring whether the next step could be preventing insurers from structuring their prices around age.

The paper advises motor insurers to support early education schemes that promote safe driving practices among the next generation of motorists and initiatives designed to improve intelligence gathering on young driver habits using telematic technology.

It also urges insurers to address the issue of fronting (when a parent insures a childs car in their own name but adds their child the real main driver to the policy to keep costs down) during the risk-gathering process to prevent fraudulent claims.

Mike Powell, Defaqtos insight analyst for general insurance, comments: If premiums continue to increase within the young driver segment of the motor insurance market, we could see regulatory intervention to control price.

However, removing age as an underwriting factor would have a major impact on the pricing and underwriting capability of all motor insurers.

To take advantage of the opportunities offered by the already challenging young driver market, insurers need to find a solution to the affordability issue while ensuring they do not take excessive risk onto their books.
