The Bryan Brothers Take Yet Another Trophy

Last night, at The Standard Biergarten in NYC, the Bryan Brothers and 15 other highly skilled table tennis teams squared off in the Esurance Open. Biergarten patrons enjoyed German-style pub grub while 30 enthusiastic locals put on their game faces and competed to see who, if anyone, would topple the world’s winningest men’s doubles team.

The Tennis Channel’s own Justin Gimelstob emceed the event and Susan Sarandon(!) and Esurance’s Chief Marketing Officer John Swigart also stopped by.

In a climactic end-of-tourney twist, excited grand prize winners Team Thug Lyfe challenged the Bryans to a final set — winner take all. But, as on the court, the Bryans turned out to be table tennis champs as well.

So Team Thug Lyfe didn’t beat the Bryan Brothers, but they did walk away with cool K-SWISS and Prince merchandise, plus a pair of US Open tickets. All in all, a pretty great night.
