Poll Shows Over Half of Travelers Miss Travel Insurance Opportunity
A poll currently on CNN.com asks travelers if they have ever purchased travel insurance. Unfortunately, at the time of this posting, 52% of respondents indicated they had not. That means many travelers are likely getting stuck paying more than they need to when travel inconveniences occur.
The concept of travel insurance is simple. By paying a small fee to a travel insurance provider, your international travel investment will be protected financially. So if your flight is cancelled, or you miss a connection, or your luggage is lost, you can seek reimbursement from your insurance company.
With delays becoming more frequent and the cost of travel constantly increasing, international travel insurance has become a very wise investment. Without it, you could find yourself facing thousands of dollars in expenses if your travel plans suddenly change.
If you have to re-schedule a cancelled flight, you’ll likely be stuck paying for both the old flight and the new one. Plus, you may need to change your hotel booking, which could incur additional fees. And those costs are just the tip of the iceberg; rental cars, event tickets, and other travel expenses may also need to be purchased all over again. Travel insurance will help you get reimbursement for at least part of these costs, saving you a significant amount of money. So if you are one of the 52% not using travel insurance, ask yourself one question: can I afford not to?
