Allergy Claim Example: young English Bulldog with $2,700+ of allergy claims
Maximus is a young adult Bulldog - one of those dog breeds known for having a high pre-disposition to chronic allergies and skin issues.
Starting off as just an ear infection, Maximus’ allergies soon emerged as a costly health issue. Regular ear cleanings, exams, cytology and medications added up quickly and in one visit alone, allergy testing and diagnostics cost $1,069.65!
Once Maximus’s chronic infections and reactions were diagnosed, he required ongoing medical treatments and monitoring to help him reduce his allergy symptoms.
Poor Maximus ended up with a total of $2,718.66 in vet bills in just 6 months.
Maximus’ policy had a $100 deductible, 10% co-pay, $10,000 Annual maximum and no drugs and dental coverage chosen.
Treatment and Diagnostic costs (Between April-October 2008) in Westford, MA totaled
$2,718.66
Covered costs $,1919.95 (*$798.71 in prescription drugs were excluded)
Total reimbursement $1,637.95
*As Maximus’ coverage didn’t include the Drug & Dental coverage, Embrace was unable to cover the medication costs associated with his ongoing treatments.
