Why Keeping Up With The News is Good News for Your Auto Insurance Quotes
How many times a week do you read the newspaper? Once? Twice? Once a month? Or is it as much a part of your daily routine as that first cup of coffee? There are plenty of reasons to read news, but I bet you never thought reading the paper would be good for helping you save money on your auto insurance quotes!

Almost every day I hop on the web to see the headlines in the insurance world. You’d be amazed at what you find out there. It seems like every time I turn around there’s some new legislation or governing body making the news. For example, have you heard about the California Advisory Task Force on Insurance Fraud? They were the ones who recently pulled back the blinders on the number of parents covering up for their teens behind the wheel and what that’s doing to your auto insurance quotes.
Insurance fraud is always bad news when you’re talking about how much you pay for your auto insurance.
The new and improved methods they’re using to track down this sort of fraud are good to know, however, if only to make sure you’re never on the wrong end of the inquisition. That’s exactly why it pays to keep up on what’s going on in insurance land. Forewarned is forearmed my friend. Forewarned is forearmed.
Then there are the new caps that some states are putting on the rate hikes insurance companies can implement. And the fact that California is offering discounts to drivers who are driving around in green cars (and the new parking lots they’ve made to accommodate them). Or the states that are up in arms about the fact that insurance companies are using your credit score to tally out the amount you pay for your coverage.
Does anyone else think they’re getting a little too much use out of that three digit number? It’s kind of like the SOL-it was never intended for half of what it’s being used for!
Of course, the next question you’re going to ask is, “Where on earth can I find news about auto insurance quotes?” At least, ones written in plain English. Hey, I can’t say I blame you for your skepticism. Most of the insurance news on the market today comes rolling down through trade publications, and most of those tend to be as dry as dust! And if I, as an insurance professional, can say that in all honesty, what does that mean for the average consumer?
The good news is, there are other options. Just go to Google and type in “auto insurance news”-that’s where I get most of mine. The daily newspapers often put debates and legislation up on their website, and the news feeds gobble those right up! Scan through BusinessWeek and other business publications and you’ll find the occasional article, but I find headline scanning through Google or Yahoo! to be my best source of information.
And it gives me something healthy to go with that morning coffee.
