What Insurance Fraud May Be Doing to Your Auto Insurance Quotes, from the Desk of California’s Advisory Task Force on Insurance Fraud
The only thing that’s as old as insurance in the insurance industry is insurance fraud. Insurance dates back all the way to the days when sailing was considered high technology and owners were recompensed for shipments lost at sea. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why, or how, they were using and abusing the system! California is among those states that have taken strong steps to prevent insurance fraud and put a stop to the way they’re ruining your chances of cheap auto insurance quotes.
Here’s how.

In 2008 California’s Advisory Task Force on Insurance Fraud published a study that showed insurance fraud in California totaled over $15 billion and cost taxpayers over $500 each year. Why? second most expensive crime in the country. Want to guess what the first one is? I’ll give you a hint-ask Al Capone about his time at Alcatraz. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, you do NOT want to get on the wrong side of the IRS!
Stepping away from a subject that’s near and dear to all of our hearts with the passage of the April 15 filing deadline, let’s get back to your auto insurance quotes.
There are plenty of things you can do to drive up the cost of your auto insurance rates. Drive off the side of the road, for example. Get caught joy riding down the interstate. Make drag racing a regular part of your daily routine. Drink before you get behind the wheel. Finally buy that hot red Lamborghini you’ve been dreaming of.
The point is, you don’t need any help!
So how can you join forces with California and other states who are taking steps to stop insurance fraud from ruining their auto insurance quotes? If you suspect insurance fraud, pick up the phone. It can be hard to report your neighbor, your employer or your friend, but if you don’t you’re going to be the one to pay for their mistakes.
You wouldn’t let someone deliberately run your car into a cement median while they’d been drinking. Why would you let them commit insurance fraud? The end result is the same. If we all work together we can stop the damage that insurance fraud is doing to our auto insurance quotes!
