Voodoo Hoodoo Targets Insurance Quotes: Auto Accidents Ensue
Voodoo Hoodoo Targets Insurance Quotes: Auto Accidents Ensue
If you’ve been following along with the articles we have here at QuoteScout you know one of our favorite things to do is surf the web looking for funny insurance stories. Those stories then find their way here, where we can share them with our customers searching for insurance quotes. Auto accidents happen every day, but one of my favorite involves a man who blamed the powers of voodoo for his auto repairs.
Check it out:
“Windshield broke. Cause unknown. Probably Voodoo.” (http://www.swapmeetdave.com/)
| Is that old black magic gettin’ you down? |
Did a wave of that old black magic really come along and crack his (or her) windshield? Depends on what you believe when it comes to voodoo. I’m not saying it did. I’m not saying it didn’t. I am saying that whether it was voodoo, hoodoo or a tiny rock that pinged up from the road to cause a crack that was ignored until it was far too late, it’s going to affect their insurance quotes. Auto insurance chaos could ensure.
Surprised that claiming voodoo would still affect your insurance quotes? Auto insurance companies are very, very particular when it comes to paying out claims. If you walk around telling people there’s a curse hanging over your head and disaster’s going to strike any minute they might laugh at you-but they’re still going to give you a wide berth!
Insurers might not give much credence to voodoo, since the spirits aren’t going to pop up to pay your deductible and rescue you when it comes time to shop for insurance quotes. Auto accidents of all kinds, whether it’s a shattered windshield, a fender bender or a 10 car pileup on I-95, are all going to send your premiums soaring. If you’ve managed to get on the wrong side of your local Vaudun, here are some things you can do to keep their voodoo from killing your insurance quotes.
1) Shop around for a car that doesn’t cost much to insure. The Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) keeps track of the makes and models of cars involved in accidents all over the country. If you go out and pick up a car on their “most wanted” list, you’re going to be paying too much for your coverage.
2) Look for a company with accident forgiveness when you’re shopping for insurance quotes. Auto insurance companies understand that bad things happen to good people-usually when you least expect them! If you can find a company that offers accident forgiveness you’ve got a fighting chance to rescue your insurance premiums from whatever voodoo-or hoodoo-happens to roll your way.
3) You may not be able to help your driving when the powers of nature are pulling the strings, but that’s not all they factor in when they figure out your insurance quotes. Auto insurers care about who you are too. A good credit score, a garage to keep your car off the street and setting up shop in a low-risk part of town will drop the cost of your insurance-no questions asked.
