Is Your Oregon Car Insurance Ready for the Apocalypse?
Is Your Oregon Car Insurance Ready for the Apocalypse?
That’s great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane…
It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.
R.E.M. “The End of the World as We Know It”
Stale air. Gym socks. A teacher droning on and on about how important it is to be careful when you get behind the wheel. The cute guy/girl next to you rolling their eyes as you watch yet another video on what can happen when teenagers decide to show off by doing 90 down the interstate. That’s how most of us remember our high school driver’s ed classes! Whether you diligently paid attention or just barely managed to keep from nodding off until the bell rings, there was one lesson every new driver took with them when they walked out the door.
You can never be too careful.
Fast forward this scene. Now, ten years later, all those young men and women are up and coming twenty-somethings buying houses, launching careers and buying their own policies from any of 50+ Oregon car insurance companies while they find out that the harbingers of doom on every movie they’ve ever watched look like noobs in the apocalypse biz compared to their car insurance agent!

Writers deal in happy endings. Hollywood producers deal in happy endings. Oregon car insurance companies…don’t. Why? Because you don’t buy car insurance because you’re expecting things to go right, you buy it because you expect to one day find yourself at the bottom of a ten car pile-up on I-5! Insurance is all about being ready for worst case scenarios, and your car insurance agent wants to make sure you know what each and every one of those worst case scenarios is before you walk out of their office!
The end result is usually something along the lines of getting ready for the sky to fall. Your car is protected against every named peril (and a few that don’t have names yet but might happen at some point in 2099) you and your agent could possibly think of. You’re going to be at the front of the line when it comes to getting through the apocalypse intact, and your Oregon car insurance company better be ready and waiting with that check when you do!
Training your Oregon car insurance to respond in case of apocalypse is perfectly fine if you can afford it, but if you’re counting your pennies as it is you might not be able to afford the buff policy invading aliens demand! The good news is, you’re probably still okay. Most experts suggest that as long as you’re carrying $100,000 and $300,000 in individual and incident bodily injury liability and $100,000 in property damage, along with comprehensive and collision coverage and an umbrella policy to help catch whatever falls through the cracks, even apocalyptic events should be nothing more than a blip on your radar.
